On Saturday September 17, 2011 and Sunday September 18, 2011 Bike School London will be leading guided bike tours of various Doors Open London sites in either the downtown, University of Western Ontario, and/or Old East Village areas.
Both bike rides will start at 11:30AM and run until about 2PM. The sites we see can be made up as we go based on those participating, but we do have some basic routes that would equate to great afternoons.
Saturday September 17 will see the bike ride start on Dundas St. at the Car Free Festival in front of To Wheels at 134 Dundas St. where we will ride up to the Grand Theater on Richmond St., then back down to Museum London, and finally up Rideout St. to Eldon House. Based on those taking part in the ride, we can then either head up to the University of Western Ontario to see the McIntosh Gallery and the beautiful new Claudette-MacKay-Lassonde Pavilion green building; or stay downtown and visit sites such as London Life, City Hall, and perhaps London Fire Station #4.
We can then escort back downtown along the bike path of if you want some road riding experience we can do that as well.
Sunday September 18 will consist of a tour of Old East Village sites. Again starting in front of To Wheels at 134 Dundas St. we will head down Dundas St. to the Delta London Armouries Hotel. From there we will head down the bike lane on King St. to William St. where we will head north to visit Banting House, the London Clay Art Center, and the Aeolian Hall. Bishop Cronyn Memorial Church also opens at noon and is in the area if there is any interest there.
Join Bike School London in celebrating London’s historic and fascinating Doors Open sites while enjoying fresh air and a little exercise. If you don’t have a bike, not a problem, Purple Bikes will be on hand to rent bicycles for the days of the rides.
